I know. What do I know about light houses? Not much, to be completely honest with you. I had a principal that loved lighthouses in high school. He taught us a few things. It's amazing what they did in helping guide ships and helping captains navigate.

Hopefully I don't butcher this story. Here it goes.

There was a VERY well known and respected admiral running a large vessel off the cost of Africa. This well decorated admiral had the utmost respect of all of his men on the ship as well as many of the ships at sea. One very late and foggy night there was a light code from another ship some miles away instructing the admiral to steer his ship a few degrees east or the vessels would collide. The admiral was infuriated. He signaled back that he would not be changing course but that the other vessel was welcome to do so. The other vessel signaled back, "No, If you do not change course we will collide." The admiral signaled back telling the other vessel about who he was, all of his accolades, his rankings, etc... And that he would not be changing course. On top of all of that who does this other captain think he is by ordering him to change course after all? The other vessel signaled back, "I am a light house."

The principals of life and success are like light houses.

They always win. No matter what you believe... There are principles of success that will always win out no matter what. Principals are no respecter of persons, accolades, or anything else. Principals never change.

Don't be that guy.

Forget about the past failures. Forget about the past successes. Don't let any of those things distract you from truly moving forward and growing. Do the things that brought success the first time. They don't change or magically become easier when you do see success.
